Thursday Jul 11, 2013 – Sunday Jul 14, 2013The Whippoorwill Festival celebrates Appalachian heritage while helping prepare our minds and bodies for a future world of climate change and a diminished supply of fossil fuels. The festival is an all-volunteer, multi-day, low-cost event with simultaneous workshops, tent camping, healthy, home-cooked meals, guest speakers, plus old-time and mountain music, dancing, and story-telling in the evenings. Battle in the Saddle
Sunday Jul 14, 2013 Doors open 5p.m. Competition starts 7p.m. Fun event for the whole family! Teams comprised of one celebrity guest plus two amateur riders will compete to determine who has the skills and bravery to pen a group of cattle in the quickest time.
Celebrities in the saddle (subject to change): Calvin Borel, Derek Braun, Patti Cooksey, Buck Davidson, Pat Day, Kevin Huber, Charlie Lopresti, Chris McCarron, Matthew Mitchell, Sam Shepard, and more. $10 general admission. Kids 12 and under free, with purchase of adult ticket.

Enjoy a relaxing cruise through the scenic Kentucky River Palisades, along a stretch of river with high limestone cliffs and untouched natural beauty.
